Hi, My name is Alicia. I am 20 and have a two year old son. I recently got engaged to my son's father last week. I have posted a few times on NYE.

Are we suppose to have an engagement party/dinner? I'm so confused since almost everyone knows.

You don't host parties that are in your honor.  If someone offers (usually parents), that's fine.  It's perfectly acceptable not to have one either.  We were offered one but declined.  Congratulations!

Congrats and welcome!  Ditto Joan. If someone wants to throw you a party,that's great, but you don't throw one for yourselves. Join us on the other boards, too, if you have planning questions!

Its really up to you. I think it can all be a bit much. Engagement party, bridal shower, bachelor party, and then wedding and reception. I do not think all of that is necessary. It is alot for you and the maid of honor to put together. As well as to the guest who may feel like they need to attend everything.
