Lace jacket + no lace gown?

Ladies, I need your fashion expertise!

Would a long-sleeve lace jacket / bolero clash with a dress that (possibly) does not have lace on it?   I haven't been dress shopping yet, so I haven't tried any on... but I wanted to get some opinions so that I could either get excited, or just forget the idea!!

I am planning on doing the same thing (you can see pictures in my post below about being a "2 dress bride") - as far as "clashing", I think shape is as important as is fabric.  Do you have any pictures of dresses or boleros that have caught your eye online?

I really love the look of lace,  but also wanted a little sleeker look for the reception. So wearing a bolero is a perfect solution, IMHO.

Yes!  Those were my thoughts exactly - I'm having a church wedding, and I'd like to be a little more covered up (besides that, it's chilly in my church!); but afterwards, I'd like to be a little less covered for dancing, comfort, etc.

Just my thoughts and I'm no bridal attire expert so take them with a grain of salt. First of all, that dress is so pretty!  I love the bodice and sparkly-ness throughout.  The bolero is very pretty too. But I think adding that particular bolero to that dress would be too much - the reason being you already have two textures happening on the bodice - the ruching and the beading, and if you throw lace on top it might be visually overwhelming. For that dress, I think a more opaque bolero with more coverage could work. Something like this, but with even more opaque alencon lace if possible. that way it would hide the busier details of the bodice for the ceremony - you'd just see lace and the sparkly skirt, then it could be removed and you'd have a completely different look for the reception.

Yes, that's what I'm concerned about, too...  well, thank you for the suggestion!  I guess in the end, I'll just have to go and try on various things and see how I feel about them.

In theory it will work, but not all boleros will work with all fabrics (or dress styles), so you will need to be careful.
