Going to the bathroom in your wedding dress

I have a fit and flare style dress and have a tiny bladder. What is the best & easiest way to go to the bathroom with this dress? It has a few layers to it and I'll be wearing a slip under it that has a few layers at the bottom to keep the shape. Please help!

Re: Going to the bathroom in your wedding dress

  • Best advice I was given was to pee on the toilet facing the wall/back of the seat.  Of course this means you will most likely have to slip off your underwear from one leg but because you can see what you are doing you probably won't need any help from your friends and family.

I only peed once while in my dress and that was when I got back to our hotel room.  I lifted my dress up (I also had a slip), pulled down my underwear and scooted forward over the toilet.  Easy peasy.

  • Like Maggie said, definitely sit on the toilet backwards, facing the toilet bowl.  That way, you can hike up your dress and slip and be sure it's not falling into the toilet.  I had to pee a few times during the night, and it was super easy.

  • Can you have the dress altered so you can slip it up over your hips? If you can't, then you'll just have to get used to the idea that you may have to take it off each time you use the loo. See if your venue has a private bathroom you can use so you won't be worried about that in a stall.

  • Awesome, Retread. Loved it. :)
  • LOL that was the perfect play by play ha!

I've wondered this myself, I dont have a mermaid, but a very big dropped waist ball gown, mine will be more like 3 arm fulls of dress versus a wad (I think I'm going to enlist a few bridesmaids for pee duty, one on each side to hold the dress up lol)
