Possible Cookware Scam?

I've seen many reviews for Cookware promotions, where they give away trips and have cookware.

Has anyone dealt with this company?

They call themselves Bridal Registry ... and the actual company on the order forms is Century Lifestyles, Inc.    The pots and pans are supposedly technically "Cook World"

Please let me know if you have heard of this company, and had positive or negative experience. Is this a scam??

Re: Possible Cookware Scam?

  • It's a scam in that the trips and freebies aren't any good and you have to pay to get/use them. Also, you have to sit through a presentation so it's a lot like a timeshare situation in that respect.

I hear that the cookware isn't bad but don't go for the free stuff.

  • It really depends on how badly you want the items offered.

The one I went to was hosted by Dinner4two and I got a voucher for free wedding bands (pay just shipping at 25/ring), hotel voucher and free champagne glasses (also pay just 20 shipping).

The rings were worth it to me because 50 bucks for two wedding bands is a good deal and the rings aren't so bad either. The hotel voucher comes with stipulations, you can only use it certain times of the year and the hotels you can choose from is a very limited list. You still have to pay all of the taxes and fees etc. That one wasn't worth it to me. I never got the champagne glasses either just because I was lazy.

The catch was that BOTH me and my fiance had to be there and sit through an hour presentation during dinner hours with no food, snack or drink. The couple that did our presentation weren't too pushy. We collected our vouchers and left. It really depends on who is giving the presentation. The cookware was more than a month's salary for me, so there was no way they could talk me into it anyways

  • Dinner4Two gave me potholders and a little bag at a bridal show, then called me and told me I won the free honeymoon I registered for.

When I got home from the show, I had looked into them online and saw what it was about and I've been to something similar with the vouchers and knew exactly what that was about.

When they called me, I said, "Well, I've been reading about you online...." and CLICK. They didn't even wait to hear if I wanted pans. lol.

If you google it, you'll find a lot of posts on various message boards over the years.
