Nervous for dress shopping...

So tomorrow I am super excited because all four of my bridesmaids are able to go bridesmaid dress shopping and this is the first time some will meet each other! I'm the type of person that is very influenced by people's opinions so I am slightly nervous about the shopping part. My wedding is in the winter so I would want long dresses for them. My dress is also a lace dress so after looking at fabric types I think I would want a chiffon fabric. I originally thought that I would want them all in the same dress so that way I'm not worried about the dresses being off on color if they are from different designers. But I'm afraid they may not all agree on the same dress...do you think I should still try to find one dress that looks good on everyone or each pick their own and hope colors match? Out of my 4 bridesmaids I have been in 3 of their weddings and both options have been done... Thanks for future input!!

You could always pick a color and designer, to help them match.

  • I picked out long chiffon dresses for my bridesmaids and my wedding is next month. They all have the same dress and I had no problems. I went with 2 out of 5 of my girls because of schedules and found the dress and went back with the others so they could try it on. They all loved it. I chose a dress with rouching in the front and it bunches on the side where there is a rhinestone brooch and then it falls from the brooch. It's gorgeous.

If you want 1 dress for everyone, I would pick a style that has rouching. Rouching flatters everyone no matter what size. My girls are all different sizes and they all look awesome in their dresses.

If you want different for everyone, narrow it down to 1 or 2 designers that you know you like the style and the colors will match. Go in ahead of time and ask to see swatches of fabric from different desigers so you can compare.  That way your girls can still have the freedom of picking out a dress, but just within certain designers.

Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

  • Thank you for your input! I think it will go well, just 3 out of the 4 are very opinionated so I hope that they will be easy on each other and me ( : I guess I'll have to see what tomorrow brings and go with it!
  • Im going shopping at 2 smaller boutiques tomorrow with the girls and I would really like to pick something since its the only time probably before the wedding we will all be able to be together. I thought aout Davids Bridal but alot of people in this area have had issues with them and some of the girls aren't fond of the idea
  • Thank you! It helps to get advice from outside the group ( :

  • I would see how it goes at first without specifying one dress or multiple.  Maybe they'll all be in a compromising mood and naturally pick one.  If they're having trouble then you could open it up to different styles with one color / designer / material.

My girls have pretty strong opinions normally, but they were all super accommodating with picking dresses.  They tried a bunch on, we eliminated some for being too short or too casual or not enough boob space, etc.  Then we narrowed it down to, like, three that everyone was onboard with and I just picked one.  You'll figure it out :-)

  • Most designers have multiple dresses in the same color and fabric. Davids Bridal and Alfred Angelo both have a ton of styles that your BMs could choose from, and you could easily match color & fabric.  Mori Lee is another good choice.
