...after Thanksgiving!
As you guys know, my grandfather has not been doing well. My grandma, mom and her siblings made the decision before Thanksgiving that if he wasn't able to breathe on his own and they were unable to wake him from the coma that they would have to take him off of the ventilators this week, which was exceptionally sad. Well, he ended up showing some improvement on Saturday, followed by a terrible night. We all were expecting him to pass away on Sunday - my family got together Sunday morning for mass to pray for him and then headed to the hospital to be with him. By early-afternoon, it looked like he was improving again. He has been up and down yesterday and today, but they are working on changing the treatments they are doing and hope to take him off of the ventilator this week still and are hopeful he can breathe on his own. Still a long way to go, but they never expected his lung function to improve at all, so it is pretty unreal.
So DH and I decided to head back to Baltimore Sunday afternoon since we didn't want to burn vacation time if things were looking up. We ended up getting rear-ended on the turnpike around Breezewood...traffic came to a stop quickly and the car that hit us just couldn't stop in time. We were all okay (I was so worried about the pup, since she was closest to the tailgate and the impact!) and there was no damage to our car...more to his bumper. A very minor accident, no real issue, etc.
Once we were back on the road, DH thought I should call my doctor and just let them know what happened, see if I should be checked out. I felt absolutely fine, but called anyway and they wanted me to come into the hospital....of course, we are still 2+ hours away and traffic was pretty heavy. We finally get to the hospital and once they hook me up to the monitors, I was having very regular contractions. They gave me lots of fluids (my first IV!) and it didn't stop them enough, so I had to spend the night and they eventually were able to stop them with medication and released us yesterday. The entire experience was beyond terrifying and I am so happy and grateful that this was the outcome vs. any of the alternatives.

I've been busy today catching up on work and the board! I missed you ladies!
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
