Shoes

Is anyone thinking of using white TOMS shoes for their wedding?  Will it be the bride, the groom, or the entire bridal party?  We like the idea that with each pair of shoes is purchased, the company donates a match donation to a child without shoes.
If so, how did you approach the subject with your bridal party?  We just don't know if everybody will be on board with the idea.

Don't make your BP wear TOMS...  If you or your groom wish to do so, so be it...but don't force them upon your bridal party. They're overpriced, unattractive and unnecessary in my opinion...  Let them wear shoes already in their closet...

Personally, I think they look ridiculous.  Wearing sneakers or Toms with a BM dress, a suit or a wedding dress or tuxedo looks like a bad prom photo.

If you do decide go this route, you should pay for the shoes.  Your BM should only be required to pay for their dress.  If you are requiring a specific shoe, you should pay for them.

I do understand the idea of liking that they donate a pair of shoes to charity, and if you want to donate shoes to charity, then you should do that.  But, dont make your wedding party cover the cost of your desire to be charitable.

  • Thank you for the replies.  Back to the original question, please!.  Has anyone actually had TOMS shoes at their wedding?  If so, please reply.  If not, no need to answer.

  • Thanks for the reminder.  I do hope people take the question seriously.  As much as one person's opinion is that they hate the shoes, we like them and we are strongly considering using these shoes.  I agree the look is not for everyone.
  • If you are really interested in using them then follow this link (CLICK!) and it will show you pics of wedding parties wearing them.

  • I haven't seen Toms, but have seen other shoes like converse and as long as it goes with the look, why not? If everyone is on board with it, go for it. But as others stated, they should be gifts then to the bridal party. If you have concerns about how it will look for wedding, what about giving them as gifts to wear at reception? By time the reception comes along most girls (and men if they have rental tux shoes) are ready to ditch them for something more comfortable for dancing and walking around in.
  • I think it is a great idea. Why not help others while looking stylish. If I was a brides maid I would rather purchase Toms then a pair of heels I will prob only wear once. They have tons of styles of Toms even high heels!
