Seating for kids

How do you seat children that might be too young to actually sit on their own seat and eat at the table. Like 2-4 year olds? Do you just expect the parents to recognize that their isn't a seat for their child or do you try to be more specific with seating assignments?

My seating is tight and I'm concerned there will be more issues with this!

Thanks!

You need to have a seat for them, even if they don't sit there. Parents need a place to put diaper bags, bags with toys, etc.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • 2-4 definitely gets their own seat. For infants you can sometimes get away without a real seat bc of high chairs, etc. but 2-4 needs a chair.
  • Kids are usually out of a high chair at age 3. Usually, not always. I'd check with their parents when you get closer to your wedding date and see how you can best accommodate them.

  • Like everyone else said, toddlers and preschoolers will be just fine eating at a table.  Where else would they eat?  A two year old might need a high chair; a four year old would sit in a normal chair.  You can just call (email/text/whatever) their parents and ask them what they'd prefer.  But I honestly don't understand where else they'd sit if not the table.

  • 2 to 4 year olds must have their own chairs. Were you thinking these children would sit on their parents lap?
  • even infants can use high chairs. ask the parent and make sure the venue has enough. i dont recall people holding infants on their laps while they ate.

  • I had a few young kids at my wedding. I spoke w/venue prior to see how many booster seats & high chairs they had available and as I got RSVP's back for kids I had the venue hold them for me (in case there was an event in the other room they had). But I counted them as a body at the table to figure out seating. If your venue doesn't have booster seats available, you may want to give the parents a heads up so if they have a portable booster seat, they can bring it to make their child a little more comfortable.
  • yes they need seats with their parents.  under 2 at our wedding we were able to arrange high chairs; 2+ get a chair; booster seats are available too if they need it.
