    Historical Event - I was born.

    Pretty sure my mom said she had watched the Thriller video in the hospital room while in labor. It was also nominated for video of the year by MTV, but lost The Cars, "You Might Think."

    My parents married in 1971, and my mom's dress sort of looks like the one on that cover.  There was a big 'Romeo and Juliet' thing going on with gowns then.  She took it out of the box for me to see/try on, but it was just for grins as she's about 5'3" and I'm almost 5'8".

    The first images on MTV were like the one I posted above from the moon landing. Yes on the Buggles. Do you know what the 2nd video was??

    I have a lot of useless trivia about the Monkees and the Three Stooges too  (they happened to use the same sets and props)....useless trivia number 1! As a result, I have a lot of useless trivia about MTV.  Mike Nesmith (my favorite Monkee) was the first to propose 24 hour music television, he did some work for Nickelodeon and got the first grammy for a music Video in 81...later sold that concept to Time Warner who developed it into MTV.

    In our awesome nerdiness, when my friends and I got AOL in the 90s, we played a version of 6 degrees of separation...we all had different topics. Mine was Three Stooges but I often used the Monkees as my first degree.
