Wedding Invitations & Paper

Question on how to address a Newlywed?

I plan on sending my invitations out 8 weeks before the wedding. In that time 2 different couples I am inviting will also be getting married (3 & 6 weeks before). I just want to check how I should address the new Mrs. They will be a Miss at the time I send the invitations out but at the wedding they will be a MRS. with a new last name! Do I address the wedding invitations in their current Miss status or the future Mrs status?

Thanks! :)

Re: Question on how to address a Newlywed?

  • Address them as they are when invitations go out.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Address them as "Miss" or "Ms." for your invitations.  At your wedding, you can use "Mr. and Mrs." for escort cards, etc.

  • Ditto PPs, use their current name.  We used Miss for anyone under 18 and Ms for those over 18.
  • Ms. For the invitation. Escort card and ty note based on whatever her married name is, which may not be Mrs HisName.

In each situation, use whatever their actual name would be at the time it's effective.  If they're not married when you issue the invitations, use Ms. at that time with her current last name.  If they're married at the time of the actual wedding, then use Mr. and Mrs. (or whatever is correct) with the appropriate last names for escort cards.
  • Thanks everyone!
