Save the date

Is it rude not to send "save the date" and just send the invitations? FI and I just decided to get married in Vegas this coming August and I don't know if we should be sending STD... Our wedding will be very simple and small and we are just inviting close friends (approx. 10 people only). After the ceremony at the chapel we will take our guests for dinner (we won't have reception).... We are in June basically and my wedding is in August; I thought about just send the invitations bc usually STD are sent about 6 months before ... What do u think?

Re: Save the date

  • I'd just send the invitations. I'm only having 9 guests, close family so I didn't even send invitations, as soon as I told them what we were doing (in Oct for July wedding) all just said they were coming. It was my Mum, Dad, aunts and uncles so invites weren't required, we're also all travelling from the UK so I was only expecting very close family to come. For inviting friends formal invitations sound nice.
  • Thank you spoon1984 ... It's good to know I'm not the only one having a small wedding and not sending STD!!!!
  • I agree with @spoon1984 with your wedding so close you wont really need save the dates at all. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

  • No need! We sent them but we we're 11 months out and are inviting around 70 so I wanted to get a little bit of an idea on how many people are interested in coming!

If anything, I've heard people sending nice STDs via email or a nice handwritten note. You could do something like that if you feel you need to do something. I would not worry about purchasing STDs at this point and I also think that some places have a minimum amount. So really not worth it! Lol.

  • Yeah with only three months notice I'd send invites immediately, and then follow them up with reminders to your guests a week or two later that if they're going, they should book asap because waiting until two months or less to go for things in Vegas can often result in huge increases in cost.
