bridesmaids dresses.

Ok so we had a dress picked out. Unfortunately it was discounted. Ok well here's my queation I have 3 girls. Sizing from 8-14-26. So they are all very different. Me and one of my bms were talking and she suggested that I pick a color, fabric and length and let them pick their own dresses. I think this is a really good idea but fsil doesn't. Would it be ok to do this? Thanks

That is a GREAT idea. Please do that. That way they can each feel comfortable in the dress they choose.

Thanks ladies. I thought I was being a nice bride. I figured this way everyone was comfortable and they can all find something in their budgets.

that's what I did. The girls each ended up with dresses that they loved and felt comfortable in. It worked out perfectly..

This is my currently plan too!  You can go 2 different routes with it though--you can either give the BM's the info you care about (color, fabric, length, whatever) and tell them to go nuts, or (since people do tend to freak out in these situations if given too many options) choose a retailer (and color etc) to send them to.  I think FSIL is either worried that this doesn't match the "standard" WP look (which is totally personal preference btw) or, if she's part of the WP, she's stressed that she won't pick the "right" dress to make you happy (this is an instance where choosing a specific retailer can be helpful).
