Tipping...ack!

So I can't seem to find a straight answer on this... My hair/makeup girl, dj, and photographers all own their businesses...do I tip them? Tax and gratuity is built into my venue price...how much do I tip the staff beyond that? And do I tip the wedding coordinator at the venue (which is a hotel)? Thanks!

If they own their own business, I would not tip. So, no to the hair, makeup, dj and photographer.

I believe the tip for the venue is also for the staff.

Wedding coordinator at the hotel - that one I might. I have no idea how much though (and we don't have any comparable person for our wedding)

  • I hate this question.  My personal philosophy is - if the person did a great job and I felt they deserved a tip they would get one.  Just because they own the business doesn't mean that a tip wouldn't be appreciated!
  • I like you Michella30!!.  The owner of a studio will work harder for you than any one else, after all it is their business. A tip is alwaysnever expected but ALWAYS appreciated. Do IT

  • Thanks for asking this question, as most of my vendors do not outsource and own their own businesses, and I was wondering the same thing

  • I wouldn't tip photographer/videographer day off because you have no idea how the final product is going to turn out at that point. You can always post a positive review of a vendor if you are happy with their services. That's another way to show appreciation.
