Personalized Gift Ideas?

Any ideas for gifts that are personal?  My FI has known the groom since grade school, sheets and towels seem so impersonal..

    If the couple has taken the time to register, it's probably most logical to purchase something from their registry. For example, I know my longtime friend and her now husband love to cook/bake, so DH & I purchased a bunch of their Calphalon bakeware for them from their registry.

    Another example...does your FI have fond memories of going out for beers and drinks with his buddy in college? Buy them the glassware for cocktails and beer glasses or other barware from their registry.

    Then get them a lovely card and write a heartfelt note.

    If all else fails, cash is always the most appreciated gift!
