WP gifts: how does this sound?

Okay! Seeing so many horror stories of lame and useless WP gifts around here has me a little paranoid. Would you all mind "proofreading" our WP gifts?

Bridesmaids: a Kate Spade Saturday makeup bag stuffed with small goodies a la Birchbox - different brands/colors of lip gloss/stick, nail polish and eyeshadow, heart-shaped sunglasses from Urban Outfitters, little macaron-shaped boxes from Urban (I haven't shopped there in YEARS! I was pleasantly surprised), colorful little earring studs in various colors, a $25 gift card to a coffee shop or store they like, and an edible treat (different for each girl) from www.mouth.com.

Sorry for the excessive detail! What do you think - is it too grab-baggy? Most of the girls subscribe to Birchbox (as do I) and I love the idea of it being sort of a "Birchbag", but without the sample sizes. I've stuffed them with not-cheap goodies that the girls will love, but all of a sudden this feels reminiscent of that canvas bag I received as a BM gift that was stuffed with tissues, tampons, bobby pins and sample-sized deodorant.

Then, FI wants to get his guys monogrammed coolers filled with their favorite beer. I'm not so into the monogramming thing, but he and his mom have their hearts set on it. So, whatever. However, my brother cannot drink because alcohol does not mix well with his medication (which he will be on indefinitely). I thought maybe filling it with Orangina would be fun, but I don't want him to feel singled out or embarrass him.

Thanks again, ladies!

Re: WP gifts: how does this sound?

  • Sounds good to me. The guys in our wedding wouldn't really go for something monogrammed, so I would probably push a little for that to be left off, so the gifts will be used.

Just have your FI give presents out individually, rather than in a group, that way your brother won't be as obviously different from the other GMs.

  • zoberg my FI is obsessed with getting his GM monogrammed glassware!  He got a monogrammed beer glass as a GM gift once and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Like you, I am staying out of it.

I think your BM gifts sound wonderful and very generous.  The only thing I wouldn't be sure about is the sunglasses.  Sunglass style is very personal for me, and I usually need to take forever trying on different pairs.  If you know it's a style your friends would like, though, go for it!
