Photography Budget

My wedding is Aug 2014.  We booked the venue and I've been totally slacking on any other planning. So now I have to get to it.  Our total budget is about $12K.  I really want good photography but there's no way we could spend the $3000+ a lot of photographers are charging.  What percentage of your budget is for photography? According to the "planners" I should be using 10%. I've upped that to about 15% but it still seems like not enough. Do I just have to suck it up and have subpar pictures?!

i wouldnt worry so much about the percentage of your budget that it is....but worry more on finding someone who's work you like and who you get along with. There's a bagillion photogs in this city with various price ranges and various levels of talent. you WILL find someone who works well for you that you can tolerate the costs for. As it sounds like it's an important vendor for you, If it happens to be a little more than you were expecting tho, there are other places in the wedding that you can make cuts if needed

I love my photographer and his price for everything he offers is amazing. His lowest package is $2,500, thats the one I'm getting.  He also has 5 stars across the board on weddingwire. It's called Civicphotos.com his name is Barrett. I thought that price was too high at first once I started researching I quickly realized he is way more worth then what he is charging. I tried to find some one less expensive but with the same quality. That was a joke, but at least I did my homework. Goodluck

I am doing photography right now! Check out captiveartphotography.com <-- Marisa is the nicest girl ever. I think her prices ranged from like 900 - 1600. Check out Fernando Weberich too. Go to fernandoweberich.com/packages.pdf for all of his stuff. He runs specials, and if you negotiate and subtract and add and mess with it, he will work with you on prices. Be pushy, get what you want. Also check out edoophotography.com, her prices were 1,600-1,800 but she is running a 200-600 dollar off special depending on the package choice and your budget. She has already told me that nothing is set in stone, she will work with you. SO! Hope those help!!

My girl was Jessica Pledger.  She's amazing, and a pleasure to work with.  When I booked her, she was a super steal, only $1000.   Because of her popularity, she's now around $2000.  But I got 6 hours of shooting for that and full rights to photos.  Plus it's really cheap to add E-pics if you still need those.

We are using Kollective Memories Photography. She is definitely in our budget and I love her pictures. We found her on Facebook.

I have 2 friends who are excellent and I believe they are both affordable! Try Bryan Anderson (www.beautyinart.com) ..but he may have a separate wedding website now, not sure! But he has done tons of amazing weddings!! Also try HeflinPhotography.com ..they are a sweet couple that is really talented!

I just found a great photographer and he is super cheap and does great photos. I booked the all day package for $695

I was on a budget, and was still able to find an amazing photographer.  We went with Fernando Weberich, and I am so glad my husband and I made that choice.  He was affordable, great reviews and his work ethic, quality and complete work is AMAZING!!  I am so happy with our engagement photos, bridal photos, and wedding photos I cant stop smiling!  We purchased his guest book and I am so happy we did, It will be a great idea and someone everyone will love to look at.  Its the best quality and pages are thick.  I can't wait to get our wedding book next, which he also sells and is the best quality coming all the way from Brazil!  Use him you will not regret it
