I don't care to @ anyone. 

I revisited the restaurant that spawned my search.  The winner was Founder's Red RyePA or however it lies. 

It arrived and I saw the color-light amber and thought "oh no, that can't be it".  I was wrong...it had that tart bitterness with grapefruit aftertaste.  LURVE.

I chugged that sucker.  It actually made me dislike my follow up Matilda...which is completely strange.  But meh...I still enjoyed it.

Also, seriously...the next time you go out to a place that's heavy on the craft brews, ask for samples. Beer shots for all!

They will only allow 3 max.  And I knew what I wanted.  So I went for it.  Plus, I was driving and needed no more encouragement to drink over my limit.

That IS a good beer.  I don't care for IPAs generally, but that one I can drink a bottle of. 

Mmm, Founders.  Like I said before, they're one of my top five breweries and I think they'd actually be in my top three.  Avery and New Belgian (b/c of the Lips of Faith line) would be in that group too.

Matilda is a yummy beer.  Have you had their Pere Jacques?  That's tasty and divine with a good dark chocolate.

@Varuna, I've had the Sofie, but not the Pere Jacques.  Friend I was having dinner with actually works at a local store that sells tons of micro brew brands, so she's always all over it.  She suggests things to me....

I saw that tallgrass sweat (?) at the store, but they only had 6-pack of cans, and I'm not about to buy them all and only like one.  So I passed (for now).

I did buy some oatmeal cream stout and I need to man up and try that too.  I have work to do.

Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat.  Yum.  It also has an oatmeal cream stout version of that, which I think is better, though I like both.

I like the oatmeal cream stout style in almost anything really.  I think it's Goose Island or Boulevard that has another oatmeal style, I can't remember now.

I know that our liquor store that has a bunch of craft brews, often has a section where they split up the packs and sell them singly.  That's how we usually end up sampling so many.  I've seen that other places, so you might look for that service.  Usually, if you do a "mixed" 6 pack, they give a bit of a discount too.

@VarunaTT they do that with the bottles, but not the cans, and they didn't have the buffalo sweat in the bottled version.  I suppose I'll just suffer through the 6 pack at some point.  Anything for the craft...

Tallgrass doesn't do bottles at all. I'd just wait until you find it someplace on draft. It's awesome on draft too. That sucks. Ours does both the bottles and the cans singly, so it's been nice.
