If we were traveling the jam would get left behind. I wouldn't check a bag on a plane just to transport some jam back. Not to mention that some people are really picking about their jams.
Photobooths aren't really a "favor", but they can be a fun part of wedding. They're a bit overdone in my area (aka everyyyyyy wedding for the last three years has had one). But if you like it, go for it.
Edible favors are always best. Personally, I wouldn't take the jam as I don't like homemade items when I don't know if they were prepared properly. One near-death experience with food poisoning will do that to a person.
Chocolates or other candy are almost always winners when it comes to favors.
Thanks for saying what I wanted to say @itzMS! I couldn't find a nice way to say why I wouldn't take the jam even if I was local so I left it out. Everything I typed sounded really jerky because a migraine has left me with little patience today. So OP, I second what itzMS said!
I'd choose the jam in a heartbeat, but I can understand those who are flying could have a problem with that. I would NOT be unhappy with the photo booth either. I would just be ecstatic you didn't give me anything with your names and wedding date on it!
on my friend's wedding, she had her photographer take a picture of the guests as they walked in the reception room; and by the time guests left, the photographer had all the photos printed and in a picture frame for the guests to take home. It was an awesome idea, and everybody loved it. It's a great favor.
I'd pick jam. I considered this idea also, but we have wayyyy too many guests. Let me live vicariously through you and (if you do it), put a tag on it that says "spread the love".
Re: Would you rather...?
I'd pick photobooth.
