After a couple of weeks, here's my two cents:
Intro:
We live in Italy and always have liked small, unconventional weddings and so we went for a very small wedding with 9 guests (just family). We decided to have it at the Vegas sign because any chapel would have felt empty with our small party. We rented a limo to move around the city for the wedding and the photo tour with Todd Wilson. Our minister was Roland August as Elvis and we had dinner at the Cosmopolitan's buffet.
Hair and Make up: Angie Lum - A+++
When researching on TK for someone who would come to my hotel room to have my hair and make up done, I contacted Whitney from Desert Glamour, since she was not available she gave me Angie's contact. From the first e-mail Angie was super nice and helpful. The day of, she came on time and, since I had emailed her some pictures of the look I wanted, she knew exactly what I wanted and did it on time. I woke up a bit nervous but after she arrived we started talking about lots of stuff and she made me forget I was nervous. I loved my make up, even if it was not airbrushed it lasted the whole day, she applied also fake eyelashes, which looked great. It was a windy day but both the hair and make up lasted perfectly until the late evening.
Limousine: Presidential Limos - A-
We rented a 12 passenger stretch limo for 2 hours and we asked for a couple of car seats (there were 2 toddlers in our party) from a company that works with Presidential - see review below. The driver arrived on time but the seats were not set so we had to lose some time setting them. We would have appreciated if both Presidential and the company had told us before. Apart from that, the limo was nice, we were comfortable and the driver took us where we wanted to go.
Car Seats: Mommy Rents: B+
When I contacted Presidential and told them we needed 2 car seats, they told me to contact Mommy Rents, since they usually work with them. From the beginning the contact was difficult, they took a lot of time before replying to my emails (sometimes I had to resend them twice or call them). They never mentioned that the seats were not going to be set/adjusted by them or Presidential and I would have appreciated at least a message telling us. Apart from that, the seats were ok and their prices were reasonable.
Minister: Roland August - A+++++++++
We couldn't have asked for a better minister! We decided to get married in Vegas at the Vegas sign so we had to choose a minister. I originally wanted someone who would give a bit of 'formal' atmosphere to the ceremony but my husband wanted Elvis, so we decided to contact 2 ministers to see which one we would pick. The first minister (won't mention the name) replied only with questions about the place we picked and criticizing it because it was too noisy. Roland replied kindly, thanking us for thinking of him and offering his help in the process. So we chose him and it was the best decision! We talked on the phone once and we liked his cool vibe, since we didn't have time to meet him before the wedding we sent him an email with our picture and a few lines about us, how we met and other info. The day of the wedding he was already at the Vegas sign setting up his speaker. He sang a couple of songs before the ceremony (I didn't know he was going to but it was great, he has a nice voice and great moves). The ceremony was beautiful, touching but with a fun vibe, and he really read the email with our story because he mentioned some of the things we wrote. After the ceremony we had another song and some time for pictures (he knows the best poses). He asked us about the paperwork we had to go through to get the marriage validated in Italy and promised to go immediately the following day to the Recorder's office to record it so we could ask for the certified copies there intead of ordering online and receving them by mail weeks later. This was a huge help and time saver. I went to the Recorders office the following day (combining a visit to the nearby North Vegas outlets
) and he had already recorded the marriage so in 2 minutes I got my copies and mailed them the same day to the Secretary of State in order to get the Apostille. We can't thank him enough for this and for the perfect ceremony he performed!
Venue: Welcome to Las Vegas sign - A-
I had never been to Las Vegas before, my husband had but never been to the sign. But when I thought of Vegas I always had the sign in my mind so we decided to have the ceremony there. We had heard it was noisy, touristy and some even advised on changing venue but we stuck with it. We went there a couple of nights before the wedding and we were happy with our choice. Yes, there is noise because of the traffic and the nearby airport but with Roland's speaker and microphone, we didn't have trouble listening to his words and songs. Yes, there are tourists but they let us stay under the sign for the whole ceremony and photos and they were even taking pictures, filming and clapping. There's a small parking space next to the sign where our limo stopped and waited for us.
Photography: Todd Wilson - A++++
What can I say about the famous Todd that hasn't already been said?! He's great, punctual, knows the best spots, takes tons of pictures and makes you feel comfortable with the right poses. We originally thought of starting the 2-hour photo tour at the ceremony then going with the limousine to the NY,NY, Paris, Bellagio and ending at the Cosmopolitan. Since the photos at the sign took longer than we thought and there was a lot of traffic on the Strip, we had to cut the spots and we only went for the NY and the Bellagio. Todd came with us in the limo and he took lots of pictures, since we couldn't make it to the Paris, he took some very nice pictures from the Bellagio with Paris in the the background. We asked him to focus on us but he took also some family pictures. Can't wait to see them!
Reception: Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan - A+
We had only read positive reviews about the Wicked Spoon's buffet and the fact that it was not the typical buffet (in terms of portions) made us go for it. The food was delicious, the portions were perfect since we wanted to taste a bit of everything, the cheesecake was the most delicious I have ever tasted! Service was not bad but nothing special (it's a buffet so they only need to get the dishes out of the way and fill your glass). I was in contact with them for several months and we ended up agreeing on a private room for our party with a minimum of $500 including wine package and service. When the bill came, they were charging us 500, plus service, plus tax so I showed them the emails I had brought with me to explain what I had agreed on and after they checked with the management, we were right and problem solved, good thing I brought the emails. Probably the house wine package at $9 per person was too much for us since most people in our party are not drinkers and they really fill up the glasses (the wine is obviously not great but it was good for the meal), but it helped us reach the minimum expense to get the private room which we appreciated. The private room we got was nice, simple decor and music player, perfect for our small party.
Bouquet: Rajitha - Spring Dews, Etsy vendor - A++
I contacted lots of florists in Vegas asking for quotes for a bouquet for myself (no bridesmaids, no venue decorations) and always got replies asking for a minimum expense of $100/200 so I decided to get it on Etsy. Although she's not Vegas-based, I instantly liked Rajitha's paper designs and the communication with her was great (she even added the boutonniere free). The bouquet was delivered to my hotel on time and it was packed perfectly. I brought it with me on the honeymoon and on the way back home to Italy and it's still intact. It's lovely and I got a lot of compliments
Evening show: Cirque du Soleil's LOVE at the mirage - A++
Amazing show! We got the tickets with an offer from Travelzoo. There's no bad seat in the theater and the show is super-entertaining, there's lots happening in all parts of the stage. Not only for Beatles lovers.
Hope my reviews are useful and thanks for reading!
