Save The Date Magnets

What did you guys opt for when it came to your Save the Dates? I always thought I wanted a magnet but now I'm thinking it may just be a waste of $. How many people are actually going to keep them? Also, I have found that the postcard versions of Save the Dates are much more affordable.

Any good sites other than weddingpaperdivas? Has anyone tried any shops on Etsy?

Re: Save The Date Magnets

  • IMO, yes, magnets are a waste of money. No one ever keeps them, and they're too flimsy to actually hold anything.

We used NextDayFlyers.com for post cards, which cost us $22 to order. We've gotten a lot of positive feedback on them. They looked nice and were cheap.

We're using VistaPrint for the invites/RSVPs because I got a Groupon coupon.

  • Do you have a stationery printer selected? Maybe they could discount on the whole shebang

  • We actually have the STD magnet of one of our BFF couples on the fridge from 2010.  But there aren't many others that we would keep.

I vote for the postcard. I've seen some from a Shutterfly type site that couldn't be too terribly expensive.

  • I've been to the homes of several people we sent our magnets to, and they are still on people's fridges. I think it just depends on whether or not people like magnets or not. They might also just never have gotten around to taking it off b/c they just forgot it was there.  We got ours from Vistaprint, and they were very inexpensive.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • we didn't do STDs - unnecessary expense.
  • I did STDs as a postcard and I see them on my friends and family's fridges right now. I think they are sufficient.

For STD magnets, I've kept them until the person got married and then disposed of it and I felt it served its purpose.

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

  • I'm doing postcards because I consider the magnet a waste of money personally
  • Tomorrow is our 7th anniversary, and we still see our magnets on friends'/families' fridges.  But they may just be too lazy to pitch them.  Ours weren't that expensive, but you're right about postcards being cheaper.
  • I sent magnets, they are good reminders on your fridge!  although i guess you could stick a postcard on your fridge too.

In all my years I've gotten one Save the Date.  It was a magnet and we did keep it until we moved.
