Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Lector readings.

Can someone tell me which of the reading my lector will be reading during the ceremony?  I feel so stupid for not knowing but she wants them in advance so she can practice.

Old Testament?
New Testament?
Gospel?

Am I missing any or are there any that shouldn't be there?

Re: Lector readings.

  • Wait.....

Not Gospel, Prayers of the Faithful right?
  • What denomination? Usually the priest/ minister reads the Gospel, the lector does the other readings.

  • It sounds like you are having a Catholic ceremony. The lector reads the Old Testament, New Testament, and sometimes the Intercessions. Some parishes the priest reads the Intercessions, you will need to ask your Church coordinator or your celebrant.

  • Ditto @daria24. If you're having a Catholic ceremony, this is all true.

The only other thing the lector might read is the Psalm.  If it's being sung, then you don't need to worry about it.  If it's being spoken, it needs to be read by the lector.
