Hello fellow RI Brides!

My fiance and I are getting married on July 12, 2014 at Ochre Court and we're currently searching for an officiant for our civil ceremony. We're looking for someone who will work with us on vow wording, readings, etc. Any recommendations, and/or any idea on what a JP will cost?

JP's cannot perform marriage ceremonies in RI.  We had a bill passed so my uncle can perform our wedding ceremony (see thread here for more info: http://forums.theknot.com/discussion/977738/has-anyone-had-a-friend-marry-them ).  Here's the info on the requirements for getting married in RI, and one of the links from that page will detail who can perform marriages: http://www.health.ri.gov/records/howto/getamarriagelicense/

Rates vary by officiant. In Rhode Island you can expect to pay anywhere from $300-$750

We are using Mike Egan. He is super nice and has great reviews. He lets you customize your entire ceremony and also has great ideas and suggestions. We are paying $375 which incudes a rehearsal. Think its $325 without one...

We've heard that Mike Egan comes highly recommended, and we've also spoken to Dennis Revens, but he does not do rehearsals. Has anyone worked with him?

Turns out Mike was not available for a rehearsal the night before our wedding. We're going with Peter Regan, a lawyer based in Newport, and he's been wonderful so far!
