Nails

So I have never been the type to have my nails done. I don't like the idea of acrylics and my nails are not that long. I was thinking of just having them done for the wedding, a muted tone, the length they are.

What are you doing and what would you recommend.

Thanks

Re: Nails

Acrylics literally destroy your natural nails and can be very expensive to maintain. I would not get them just for your wedding.

I will probably get a nude-pinkish color (I think OPI has one called "I love you" or something that's nice) with shellac for staying power.

  • I just had my natural nails and had them painted a light pink/nude color.

I had a no- clip manicure in a light pink. It lasted through my HM.

  • I'm going to get a Shellac manicure in a nude color on my semi-short, natural length nails. Shellac makes my nails temporarily brittle once it is removed, but I agree that acrylics completely destroy your nailbed.
  • Acrylics destroyed my nails - when I got them off, the lady shaved off half of my nails as well so they were paper thin and very painful. You can go with a gel manicure, but they will also ruin your nails. When they come off, your natural nails are very rough - though I didn't lose half of my nails with a gel manicure.

You can paint them yourself or go to the salon and just get them shaped and buffed if you'd like too.
  • Maybe a gel manicure? They polish it the same way they would with regular polish and you don't need to worry about any damage like you would with acrylics. They also last a long time (up to 3 weeks) and look fine with short nails. I get them all the time and keep my nails very short. I like the pps suggestion of a light/nude pink polish.

  • I did the "no chip" manicure and was very happy with it.
  • I am doing gel no chip. I get my nails done all the time. They can do a lot wit the gel. Here are my current nails done wit the gel.

  • I did a gel manicure and it came out fabulous.  I work with my hands, so I very rarely get polish on my nails since it chips so quickly.  I hated acrylics when I did them years ago in HS.  My sister in law recommended the gel and it was the best ever.  Its your natural nail and the gel does not damage your nails at all-- 2 weeks after the wedding my nails still look amazing.
