What does my groom wear?? My dress is a beautiful light sand color!

I found my perfect dress and got it for a steal!!!  But it's a non-traditional color...a light sand color.  It's not ivory or off-white...most definitely a sand color with same color lace overlay.  SO my conundrum is now trying to figure out options for my groom to wear.  Visually picturing a black suit and white shirt  in my head...it looks weird.  My groom tends to lean towards the "I'm supposed to wear a suit", so I need ideas that mesh with that.

Help?!?!?!?!  Ideas, suggestions, thoughts??  Since I don't want him to see my dress ahead of time, I need to be prepared with some ideas  Winter wedding btw

I think a black or charcoal suit would be just fine....my concern is with what is underneath.  Picturing a white shirt under a black suit standing next to my light sand colored dress just seems odd looking...like we didn't coordinate. haha.  I just don't think they'll look right standing next to each other.

I'm not really sure what a good solution would be.  Anyone have any experience with champagne colored dresses???  Or something similar?

Really, a white shirt will be just fine. His clothes coordinate with his clothes while your outfit coordinates with your clothes.

I think i'm going to need to find some images of a bride in a similar color dress standing next to her groom.  When I picture it in my head (champagne dress + black suit & white shirt), it still looks odd and like we didn't coordinate with each other.

You're massively over-thinking this. It will look fine. Why don't you ask your groom how he feels about a white shirt and sand-colored tie or vest?

I am  It's my style to overthink, haha.  I was just so surprised to find a dress I loved so early (our date is 12.13.13) and it just happens to be this color.  I love that it's not what you commonly see, but the coordination thew me for a loop!

I found some good images online that helped put the "look" into perspective.  VERY helpful to have a visual!!  The other part to this was that we're wanting to buy him a new suit...not rent a tux.  So we'd be finding a tie to coordinate, which I dont' think would be hard.  Who knows, he may change his mind on that one also!

It's your wedding, not prom.

He didn't get a say in what you are wearing, so give him that same courtesy. Unless he's so fashion challenged that he can't tell blue from black, let him do this

I like the idea of a black shirt, black suit, and the tie coordinating with the sand color of your dress.

Black is for tuxes and funerals in menswear. A nice dark charcoal suit, white shirt, and tie in a color that suits him will look great. I wouldn't worry about matching the tie to your dress or to the bridesmaids- that has a tendency to look very dated.
