What did you wear for your engagement photos?

Our engagement session will be coming up this fall, and FI and I are trying to come up with what to wear. So, for inspiration, what did you and your FI wear?

I know it's probably silly to be thinking about this when we still have a few months, but I always hate how I look in pictures so I'm really nervous about the photo session!

I picked two outfits.  the first one, is in my signature picture.  A short black dress and fabulous shoes.  The second outfit we picked was "blues", so I wore a blue dress and nude heels (see below).  You really have to just pick the clothes that you feel comfy in. If you pick something that isn't "you", your discomfort will show in your pictures.

We wore things we'd normally wear.

First outfit..Me: Grey and black tailored knee length dress. Him: Blue dress shirt, black dress pants

Second outfit: Me: Black tank top and denim skirt. Him: White and black graphic tee and jeans

I'm wearing a printed black/white/purple short dress and he's doing a black button down shirt with shorts...and I haven't figured out a second outfit.

I wore two different dresses. One was a fitted orange dress and the other was a loose blue dress with a floral print. My FI wore his 3 piece suit minus the jacket with my orange dress and a crisp shirt with khakis with my floral dress.

Talk to your photographer and see how many outfit changes you can do.  From there pick something you are comfortable in and that goes with your location--  My best friend did our pics so she did not care how many changes we did and actually wanted us to do more since it gave her more variety for her portfolio-- a regular photographer will not be that flexible though.  She suggested layers and that worked great. 

anyway,I did one in a casual creme & brown dress with boots--FI was in a dark brown/blue collared shirt. He wore jeans in every picture.  The others I switched to jeans with the boots and had a nice peach colored shirt and brown sweater.  FI stayed in his brown shirt for some pics but layered with a blue sweater for others.  I then switch to a purple/creme top with a scarf and kept the boots for some; but then also took off the scarf and switched to some cute purple heels.  FI stayed in the blue sweater/brown shirt. 

Our pictures were in various spots at a local park before sunset.

We wore two outfits....for the first, I wore a yellow and white cardigan from Banana Republic and a navy pencil skirt and FI wore a navy sport coat and jeans.  For the second, I wore a red cardi from and jeans and heels, and FI wore a white button down and jeans.

I considered a million outifts because I'm weird like that, but I settled on what PP said, wearing stuff we'd normally wear.  I pretty much live in cardigans from Banana Republic.  I hear that photos turn out better with bright colors, and the colors in our pics turned out really pretty.

We used our engagement pics for the invitations.  So, we chose colors that went with the colors of the invites (royal blue and white).  We did pics on two different days so we could use two different locations.

Outfit #1-I wore a shirt with lots of blues, purples, whites, and blacks.  I love that shirt and wore it with dark blue jeans.  FI wore a royal blue dress shirt and tie with black pants.

"Outfit" #2-We were outside after a HUGE snowfall.  The timing couldn't have been more perfect.  I wore my purple pea coat and FI wore his black one.

Outfit #3-I wore the same dark blue jeans with a purple shirt that had some slight bling.  FI wore jeans and a royal blue polo shirt.

"Outfit" #4-Basically what we wore for #3 but with jackets.  We both had jackets from a group we were in, that were royal blue and white-perfect!  We wore those for some outside pics on that day.

Our pictures turned out great and they looked great on the invitations!  We needed 4 pics, and chose 2 from outfit 2 and one from both 3 and 4.  I actually didn't like how most of the pics from outfit 1 looked.  (Self-conscious here).  I just picked clothes based on what wouldn't clash with our colors (which was really easy), and what we felt comfortable in!  We had a blast!
