Can't decide on music/DJ

I keep going back and forth between whether or not we should have a live band or a DJ.  And I'm running out of time to decide!   I found a great, affordable band, but I'm concerned that the song list will be a lot more limited than it would be with a DJ.... so now I've gone back to looking at DJs again.
Has anyone used Premium Soundz, DJ Psycho Jim, or AMP Event?  Any reviews would be greatly appreciated!  I need to book someone soon since our wedding is in June!

I prefer DJs to bands but thats just me. I feel like they have more of a range in the music they play.

I also prefer DJs due to the range (and the fact that the songs sound exactly the way you know them!)

No advice on the DJs you named - sorry!

We had a band because that was the one thing my husband really wanted.  I was not so sure about it because I thought people would be upset by not hearing many of the radio hits BUT the band was a huge success.  Everyone was talking about how great they were.  It was so much fun and when there's live entertainment, they can adjust to the crowd.  Also, we did have some radio hits played when they band took their breaks.  Good luck with you decision!!!

    Look into DJ Master Gee!

    Best DJ EVER!!   posted 10/27/2011

DJ Master Gee and Alex were the best DJ's I have seen at a wedding in a long time. They kept everyone on the dance floor, took requests and actually played them, had great music at dinner. The best part was that Master Gee took over all of the events we had planned for after dinner (first dance, cake cutting, dollar dance, etc) and we didn't have to lift a finger. We had so many guests comment on how great the DJ was we knew we had made the right choice. If you want to keep people dancing and having a good time, you need to hire DJ Master Gee.

We're doing a combo - live music throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner, then a dj for dancing.  I work in event planning so I really wanted the feel of a live performance, but I find that a good dj is better able to adapt to the crowd once the drinks start to flow :)

@williaam2 - Who are you using for your music?  I emailed Steven Vance Entertainment because I need a string quartet for the ceremony, and Steven also offers a live strolling violin during dinner then a DJ in the evening, so I could just do a combo deal for everything and it seems like maybe the best option.  Still waiting to hear if he's available for our date though, so I'm wondering if there are other entertainers that offer similar packages?

We'll be going with a DJ, but it'll be tough to pick.  My fiancee is pretty picky- he's a DJ himself.   So as for DJ's, Dean Shumani has come highly recommended to us.
I'm pretty partial to my fiance Dan & his friend Keith, though...  (obviously).  Our wedding is the following weekend, but I'd be happy to recommend them if you need someone!
    Good luck!
