Epic Facebook fail

I saw this on my feed today when I got home from work and I was mortified for the couple:

"By show of "likes" how many people would seriously come to our wedding if you had to travel out of state..??? We are having a hard time picking a venue since our friends are literally all over the country.... Think of this as my "pre-save the date" guest count and pretend "all of our facebook friends are invited" just for kicks."

What?!  Mind 'splode!  SO many things wrong with this!  Nothing says "classy" like "Let's pretend we're inviting you, even though we definitely aren't."

Re: Epic Facebook fail

  • That's silly. @addiel73 Does the Muppet Overlord have FB authority?

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
  • A Muppet Overlord does what he wants, where he wants!

I would be so tempted to comment on that status, Animator. I swear, I have to bite my tongue so often on FB it's a wonder I don't need medical attention. (That actually WAS my FB status a couple days ago, btw).

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • That is crazy!!! I have been so careful to put nothing about my wedding on facebook solely because I don't want anyone liking it, discussing it, etc, if they are not invited.

I wouldn't probably leave a comment on that--something witty but I do not know what I would say. lol
  • Our best man plastered an open invitation to fb friends, but then they found some people talking about the wedding that they weren't very interested in attending....so they unfriended some of the people so they wouldn't get the details.

They did send a few people real paper invites, complete with walmart registry info right on it.

  • I just have to add the FB post she put up right before this one (though, this doesn't bother me nearly as much as I know it bothers the other ladies on here)...

"Life Update: Due to some lack of family support "Boy" and I decided to move to another state and live together again. For all of you Christians out there, yes we got legal, and for all of you Romantics, yes we're still having a wedding. We eloped  two months ago on the front porch of our adorable rental house where we now live with our kitties. Yes, I'm legally Girl BoysLastName."
  • lol people use FB way too much.  FB is eventually going to be the only form of communication.  Seeing as how I do not have a FB n e more, I will be screwed.
  • Wow. Just by the way those people talk, they/she sounds really weird. Kinda almost like, she needs to reassure herself that other people like her.
We haven't said much about it, but I have to say I have taken full advantage of private messages on Facebook just to get RSVPs and things like that, because I just got a new phone and am too lazy to go through my old one and try to pull up phone numbers. I figure people use FB about as much as their phones anyway.
I've also shared TheKnot page and things like that, but nothing really directly related to our wedding.
When we sent our announcement into the newspaper though, my friends and family kept commenting on my wall, "OMG we saw your wedding announcement in the paper yaddy yaddy."
But I've tried to be aloof a little about it, because I don't want to hurt certain friends feelings if they aren't invited- it doesn't mean I don't like them, it's just we would rather have a smaller wedding than a larger one.

Your signature keeps getting better and better.
  • @MuppetOverlord since you attended Addie's wedding does that mean you are coming to mine???!

Is there something wrong with a Walmart registry?
Not at all, but you don't think it's weird that they had it printed on the wedding invitation? Like, right after where it's taking place with the time etc..

It depends on what you have to offer me.

That gif appears to be Aresenio Hall in Amazon Women on the Moon - Modified. One of my favorite clips on the planet. FTW.
