We enjoy cruising.  Princess has a great "Greek Isles: itinerary that covers Greece, Italy, and Croatia, with a stop in Turkey to see Ephasis.  It is heavy on the archealogical history, and makes it easy to see a  lot of ancient historical sights in a relatively short time.  Get a cheaper cabin and be careful with your bar bills on board.
Imagine, the Parthenon, Venice, Ephasis, Pompei, and Rome, all in two weeks!  We stayed a few days in Rome after the cruise, too.
There are other cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Celebrity that have similar cruises.  I wouldn't go with Costa, though.
Just for research purposes, it's Ephesos/Ephesus.

The Caribbean is one of the best places you could get. Check this link, it may give some ideas.

    Good luck!!

  • As a native of Miami, I would defintely look into Florida resorts! Many of them are very luxurious and reasonably priced; best yet Florida has some of the top beaches in the nation; I love Brazilian bikinis, so a honeymoon destination here is a must for any swimsuit lover! I was browsing one of my favorite blogs, Haute in Miami, and they came out with a nice article about Florida's top ten beaches. You should definitely check out the link, see which one is you favorite, and look for resorts in that area.

  • We went to Costa Rica for our Honeymoon and it was in your price range. I ended up planning the details of lodging, airfare, transportation and tours myself. We stayed 4 nights in Arenal at Tabacon Hot Springs Resort (did 2 day tours - hanging bridges, waterfall, National Park combo which was ok and a Class III-IV raft trip which was fantastic). We then went to Nicoya peninsula (more remote than the traditional destinations and therefore cheaper and more to ourselves). We stayed in Montezuma at Ylang Ylang Beach resort in a cabana on the beach. It came with breakfast and dinner included. We upgraded one dinner to a private dinner on the beach (romance package that included flowers in the room every day). Depends on what you are looking for - relaxation, adventure or both. This destination has both. When I got married CR was a popular destination for a lot of nesties.
  • On that budget you can definitely come to Boston or the Cape for a romantic, weekend getaway. My partner and I celebrated our honeymoon down on Cape Cod in Chatham and had such a wonderful time. For more inspiration, check out the LGBT MassVacation website here: http://www.lgbtmassvacation.com
