So my first post talked about most of the vacation pre-wedding time. We had tons of fun doing things around San Diego / La Jolla with our guests. So much so - that we forgot to space out the little tasks we had "planned" to take care of.
Sunday: Rehearsal. apparently we could have dropped off all the booze during the rehearsal but I didn't realize that so DH had to do it the morning of the wedding. We also realized during the rehearsal that we had never bought the unity candle or toasting glasses, printed out the readings our mothers were doing or finished our vows. Nothing like a little last minute pressure! However, everything else seemed to run smoothly.
Rehearsal Lunch - actually went great. The food was really good, the service was fine and everyone seemed to have a good time. Then J and I tried to run around town to buy the things we were missing and find somewhere to print out our stuff. Not to mention we had planned to put the goodie bags together and deliver them. This took from lunchtime until just before the Welcome Party at 8:30. In between running around we started getting texts that the hotel everyone was staying at had slipped signs under the doors after everyone had checked in to tell them that the water was going to be shut off during the day of the wedding. So then we had to call around to see what we could get done.
Welcome Party - I so wish we didn't have this. I was so tired - I was sucking down cokes trying to stay awake and still be able to talk to people. I felt a little bad because I know I wasn't as social as I could have been.
Monday - wedding day! My sister stayed over with me and we ordered breakfast from room service but I was pretty stressed out / nervous about all the loose ends so I barely ate anything. Then my mom, aunt and bridesmaid showed up and the makeup/hair gals came over and did us all up. They did a great job I thought! We piled into the car and headed over to the venue right at 2pm and from there on out everything was perfect! The coordinator totally took care of all the loose ends, handled all the questions from everyone and generally directed as much as she could without bothering me with questions. She had sun umbrellas for the guests, which I didn't think of, and kept everything moving on schedule. The string trio played all of our songs perfectly! (Black Eyed Peas - I got a feeling for the bridal party walking, At Last for me walking and then I'm Yours for our exit) The only thing the coordinator was too good at was filing up my champagne glass! That led to trouble at the end of the night but overall it was still such an amazing day and DH and I couldn't be happier!!
If anyone is thinking of getting married in wine country - Temecula is such a better deal than Napa/Sonoma has the same beautiful rolling hills of vines but also has some family friendly attractions nearby as well. Our venue specifically just cannot be beat and I want to go back and visit already. the photographer just posted some shots from a wedding they did 10 days ago. I'm really hoping I get to see some shots before then, I can't wait!!! Meanwhile, I'm having to facebook stalk all my guests to see what they are posting as I got zero pictures of my own - I was too busy having a great time!
