Morning After Brunch

Hey ladies....what is everyone doing the morning after?  Is anyone hosting a brunch for family and OOT guests?
We are considering hosting ours at our place, but our place is a bit small and it will be more work than I care to do that weekend.

We are staying at Station Square.  Any ideas for a brunch location?

Thanks.

Pittsburgh September Siggy - Our honeymoon will be at the Royal Suites Turquesas in P*nta Cana. Super excited!

We've been debating this. I'd like to have one, but my Mom doesn't want to pay for it, which I don't blame her, and we can't afford it so I don't know.

We were thinking of doing a brunch at Pamela's in Oakland and just having everyone pay for themselves. Speaking of which, I need to call to see if this is a possiblity. Calling now.

mmm Grand Concourse brunch.  when I lived there it was $20 all you can eat... so good!

I'm in the same boat as jl - ALL my guests are out of town, so I'd basically be trying to host a brunch wedding after my evening wedding... and I simply can't afford it.

We're doing our brunch in the Fountainview room at the Sheraton Station Square - FILs are hosting it so I have no idea of pricing or anything - but the room is gorgeous with an awesome view of the city!! We have the room from 8am to noon with breakfast and coffe served from 8:30 - 10:30

There were posts about this on my month board today!  Most of the girls felt that you could include a card with the invitation or put info on your website about guests joining you for brunch the next morning.  A lot suggested going to a buffet or a place with a prefix menu so you could say, price is $X.  That way the guests knew where you were going to be and how to join you, but that you weren't hosting.

I'd do Grand Concourse...$20 well worth it

That is what I did! We only put it in the invitations of the OOT guests though. My cards say:

On Sunday Morning don't pack and run,
Stay a little longer for a bit more fun!
Please join us for a Sunday brunch
    at (Place) from (times)
    to toast
    Gianna and Ryan
before they're off for their honeymoon!

My invites are out, is it tacky to invite people either by word of mouth or through an evite?

I don't think word of mouth would be tacky at all.  Plus, through word of mouth people definitely won't think that you're hosting.  You could add it to your website and if you wanted, drop a note about it in your oot bags

I too don't think it's tacky to use word of mouth, not so sure about an e-vite, but you know your guests and know who will and will not be offended by an e-vite. Personally I wouldn't mind an e-vite, but I'm sure some people might, and you also have to consider older guests... some may not know how to work a computer! lol - weird to think but true! - I think rather than an e-vite, it's a good idea to add it to your website, but only if you are inviting everyone. Also, great idea MRads on dropping it in the OOT bags!

I agree that word of mouth is fine.

I have a lot of ppl that are planning on staying at the Hotel where I'm having the reception and our coordinator told us he would just reserve a room for us the next morning where we could all have brunch together ( its included in the hotel costs of staying over). I was just going to let anyone know who stays over to head to that room to be with us, so essentially they are paying for their own as they are paying for their hotel.

I also agree that Grand Concourse is the way to go and maybe see if you can get a rough head count of how many would be going and make a reservation?

Grand Concourse for sure! We wanted to do that for our brunch the day after, but we were in the South Hills, so we ended up just doing it at the hotel we werestaying at.

I think word of mouth is fine, that's how we did it! You could also have teh DJ announce it at the end of the night!

I also think word of mouth is fine. My FBIL/FSIL sent separate invitations.. but I don't really think that is necessary. I also like the OOT bag note idea! And put it on your website... lots of great ideas!

There are plenty of parks and plenty of caterers who are cheap with breakfast rates (less than $7 PP).  Some hotels offer these packages too - will give you a cheaper rate if you booked your wedding there with guests staying there too.  Kings Family Restaurants also offer private rooms in alot of them with catering options or off-menu options.

I'm in the same position as both of you guys. We have considered possibly doing a brunch with just family, but that may be bad too since I have divorced parents. Quite frankly I would rather just have breakfast in bed at the hotel the day after we get married :-)

Last time I was at Grand Concourse it was definitely close to $60 pp. But I think it was Father's Day so maybe that was why. I would definitely call and ask. HTH

Thanks for all of the ideas.  I checked with the Grand Concourse.  It is $24.99 for adults and children 4-12 are $12.99, under 4 eat free.  I think we are going to reserve tables for our guests.  Unfortunately, we can't host the entire thing since we are paying for our wedding, but we are going to check with the GC about a reduced rate for our guests with us paying the difference.

I am late to this, but just wanted to say that I don't think you should feel obligated to host! We also had a ton of OOTers, and knew we could not pay for everyone. We just made sure people knew ahead of time that it was not a hosted brunch.

Also, a lot of people did not attend because they either didn't live in the South Hills or had to leave early-ish on Sunday to drive home. I'd say we had about 20-30 people, which was nice and relaxing, and gave us time to see some guests we hadn't seen the night before!
