Engagement Ring/Wedding Band

Do you wear your engagement ring walking down the aisle? I am considering having my ring soldered together with my band before the wedding so he can put it all on together when we exchange rings. Otherwise, what do you do with your engagement ring? Confused?

Re: Engagement Ring/Wedding Band

  • Wear it on your right hand then after the wedding(before reception) switch it back to your left over your wedding band.

  • I'll probably ask a BM to hold it for me during the ceremony, since I'm wearing a right-hand ring as my something borrowed.

  • I'm having mine soldered together - he'll give me the set when we exchange rings during the ceremony.

I've heard of people wearing it in their right hand, having their BM hold it, etc. when walking down the aisle.

  • I'm wearing a cocktail ring on my right hand, so I'm giving mine to the best man so FI can give them both to me at the same time.

  • I'm going to still wear it on my left hand.  I have been struggling with this decision but everyone I asked did this as well and just flipped the order of the rings during a free moment after the ceremony.

  • Im not getting a seperate band for now...it has to be custom made and its not in the budget.  He is just going to give me my engagement ring for the ring ceremony.

  • I can't find the link now but I have seen on a blog somewhere a couple that included it in the ring exchange. After they did the wedding bands the officiant said something about the bands being a symbol of their marriage, and the engagement being a symbol of the love that brought them together.

  • Okay I did some googling and found this wording:

"Groom, please take Bride's engagement ring.

This ring is the symbol of promise and intention.

Now the intention is realized and the promise fulfilled.

Please place this ring on Bride's finger over her wedding band

to symbolize that the love that brought you together

will always protect and sustain your marriage. "

  • I am also having mine soldered together, so I will get them both during the ceremony. Is anyone else anxious over what to do with the rings beforehand? We have 2 ring bearers (our sons) and they will be staying with FI the night before the wedding. I am so afraid of FI forgetting them!!!

This, me too! Doesn't seem to be the most popular option but I have an heirloom ring I want to wear on my right hand as my something old.
  • I'm still wearing my engagement ring on my left hand. I also heard not to wear it when doing the ring exchange but I was like it's too much of a hassle and no one is really going to see anyone LOL!

crystal&russl10 I think I'm just giving the best men the rings to hold. They'll be with my FI at our apartment so he'll just give it to them.
  • Since we got our rings on Sunday I opted for an enhancer so I don't have to worry about switching fingers, since my ering will be with the enhancer. Problem solved!

  • I'm with futuremrsdaniel.  I will be still wearing my engagement ring on my left hand and am also keeping the wedding band on top of the engagement ring.  I like that look better than having the wedding band underneath the engagement ring but I think it's all personal preference :)

  • Here's what we decided on! The enhancer makes my solitaire look fabulous! Can't wait until I can wear it permanently rather than when trying it on.
