Looking for small outdoor mountain venue

My fiance and I live in south Florida, and we've been here our whole lives, so we have never really experienced the "season change" in the Fall.  We have decided to have our wedding outdoors next Fall somewhere in the mountains, and are looking for the perfect venue. Our wedding will be less than 100 (probably more like 70 or 80), and we are having a very hard time finding nice, small venues on the internet, so I thought I would post in some local communities to see if anyone knows any good local secrets. We are open to anywhere from Georgia to Ohio, and anywhere east of that (New England, Atlantic Coast). Please share if you have any ideas! Thank you!

  • Check out Lake Lure (where they filmed Dirty Dancing). I know they have wedding venues, also if you end up there Larkins on the Lake http://www.larkinsontheriver.com/ would be yummy food!

Glassy Mountain Chapel at the Cliffs is a beautiful church, there is also a golf course nearby so they may be able to accommodate a reception. (not sure the cost)  http://www.cliffscommunities.com/community-page/mountain/the-cliffs-at-glassy/glassy-amenities/

Mary's Cottage http://fallscottage.com/ is in Greenville Sc, right near Falls Park with water falls, and would be very pretty during the fall months. Also there is lots to do in Greenville, SC so your guests would be able to enjoy their downtime as well :)

Hope this ideas help! Happy Planning!

  • My fiancé and I were planning on getting married at Table Rock Lodge. It's a beautiful view of a lake and the mountains. It's not too pricey, but you have to clean and be out by 930. You also have to call to reserve the place 11 months in advance (to the day). You can have a rehearsal unless you reserve the day of that also. You can always look into it. Just google Table Rock Lodge in Greenville, SC.
  • For the ceremony, Pretty Place (http://www.campgreenville.org/chapel.php) is beautiful - but it's rented out in 2 hours blocks, so you have to get in and out pretty quickly. If you are planning for a short ceremony, though, that may not be an issue.
