BBQ reception location

I am looking for a reception site for 150 people that will allow us to bring our own caterer, allows alcohol, and will fit 150 people. We prefer to be outside, however I want a place with an inside location  so if it rains we have that option. It has to be under 1,000 rental fee.

Re: BBQ reception location

  • Whitetail Lodge in Marysville. Meets all of your criteria.
  • Thank you SO much!! We hope to check it out early this week.
  • Happy to help - good luck! If you are willing to go slightly above your $1000 fee limit, Armstrong Valley Winery is amazing. We're having our ceremony on the courtyard and reception in the barn. I believe it's cheaper if you are doing reception only. But it does allow your own catering, alcohol, and has a rain option (covered patio attached to the barn).
  • Who are you using for catering? We are leaning towards Kara's, compared to some other places they seem to have the best deal.. we are getting a BBQ (chicken, beef) two veggies, two potatoes, mac and cheese, and two buttered apps for around $34 a person (including dishwear and table covers)
  • We haven't picked a caterer yet, but are leaning heavily towards Gonder's Grubb House. It's right down the road from the winery and my friends who are locals HIGHLY recommend it. Plus Armstrong doesn't have a kitchen, so I like the idea of the food being prepped and delivered from so close. Are you getting full china or disposable/upgrade?

  • we are using disposables. I don't see the need to pay extra for china that might get broken, clean up should be easier too.  If we were doing something a little more elegant I guess China, but we are setting up corn hole and other yard games for cocktail hour (actually making it closer to 2 hours)
  • Same with us! We are going with upgrade disposable but it's in a barn and likely to be BBQ style - I think china would just look silly! Do you have a link to your caterer? Might be worth my while to check them out. Were you able to visit Whitetail?
  • It seems reasonable- after tax and service charge we are paying around $35 per/person for the BBQ package. This includes cake cutting, helping with champagne, and basic linens and napkins. She is letting us sub out the ribs for Mac and cheese (we have a few veg. friends), subbing desserts for apps, and using the fruit salad as an app instead of on the meal. They seem very accommodating.

  • Thanks! I'll check them out :)
