Rehearsal Dinner Downtown

I really need to be thinking about options for the RD.... All of our wedding party is from out of town and will be staying downtown or at our apartment in Regent Square. Since the church is downtown we wanted to try and have our RD downtown as well, but we also need to stick to a strict budget- only $40 to $50 a person for all food and drinks. Since it is a RD, I really would like a private room.

First off, is this doable?

Second, any suggestions on restraurants?

You could maybe try the Sharp Edge Bistro on Penn. I'm not sure about a private room, but I think you could probably make the budget work. You should also check out Papa J's Bistro on the Boulevard of the Allies. The restaurant is divided into different rooms and there is also an upstairs that I think could be a private event space. I'm almost positive it would work from a budget perspective.

Meat and Potatoes has a private room as does The Grille on Seventh.  I want to say that Six Pennn has an area that they can make just for a party as well.  It depends on how many people you're having.  I know the room at Meat and Potatoes is smallish.

I really liked SixPenn back when I lived in Pittsburgh, and I checked out their menu for my rehearsal.  They are ~$40/pp for a plated dinner, less for buffet.

Our was at Lidia's in the strip and was fantastic! We had a private room upstairs (loft style setting) and was around $38ish? I want to say. The staff was great and arranging everything went flawless. We also looked at Six Penn but they were already booked for our date 11 months ahead so I would inquire now if you're interested.

Hey Phillychica, did that happen to include alcohol? That's what I am really nervous about. Our guests will expect booze, so we need to include that in the price.
