How do I choose the right petticoat/crinoline for my dress?

I definitely need to wear something under my dress since it's princess or ball gown style (I can't remember!). I'll attach pictures of the model wearing the dress I got. I want it to look just like that, even from behind! But I do want to be able to bustle the dress after the ceremony. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!! :)

  • I'm a little confused. Did the dress not come with attached petticoats? Or are you hoping for a bit more "poof" than what it originally came with?

A lot of seamstresses have detachable petticoats. Consult a couple and see what they could do for you.

  • It did not come with an attached petticoat, and it's too long, so instead of hemming it, I'd like to have moe poof than what it has without the petticoat or crinoline. I'll consult with some seamstresses, thank you :)
  • jordzmarls20, Did you attach a photo? I'm not seeing it come up, it just shows a little broken picture symbol :/
  • Joedzmarls is a spammer. Hopefully they will delete the posts in the morning.

Good luck with the seamstress. Also, you might consult the salon you bought your gown from as well.

  • I agree, talk to your seamstress.  I didn't even consider needing a petticoat underneath but she had several and knew exactly which one would look perfect with my dress (it was A-line, so I didn't really need any poof just something to keep my dress from pressing against and between my legs when I walked).  It looked gorgeous and I never would have thought about it if it weren't for her.
  • Wait until you try your dress on then the seamstress should have a few options for you to try with your dress. I had a petticoat given to me by a friend that I planned on wearing but it wasn't poofy enough as my dress was also heavy satin, then the seamstress came out with the next size up (in terms of fullness) and it was perfect and I didn't need a hem either. I believe it was only $100, so I just bought that one.
