Has anyone had dress remorse??

Hi

Just wanted to get a feel for any brides out there who may have had dress remorse. I lost 30 pounds and now I feel completely different about my body and sadly I feel differently about my dress! :-( Has anyone just had doubts? Or done anything about it? LIke buying a new dress or trying to sell their old one?

Looking for some feedback so I don't feel so alone!!

Thanks!!

Re: Has anyone had dress remorse??

  • Sorry - I can't help. I was having some doubts for a while after I ordered my dress (when the memory wasn't fresh) but then I got to go to the store and try on the dress in my size that I had ordered and it was definitely the right decision for me.

Have you tried on your dress since you lost the weight? Gone to a seamstress to see what alterations would make the dress look like?

  • First, congrats on the weight loss, that's an awesome achievement! I second @hardlyhannah - go to a seamstress if you haven't already and see if they can show you what the dress would look like on you now.
  • I can't relate, but my only advice is to try not to put that much thought into it. You chose the dress at first because you loved it. It's awesome that you lost weight! Don't let that change your mind though on why you first loved your dress.

  • Completely agree with PP.

  • Congrats - please do share your secret! Totally agree with the seamstress idea, but also go and try on other dresses. That way you'll have a better idea what works on the new you to tell the seamstress, and you will also have a better idea if dress one can be remade to fit your new vision. There is always tradesy, craigslist and ebay if you decide to switch it up - there is still time to change your mind.
  • Thanks for all the feedback ladies! can't believe it's 100 days away! Getting so excited. Not sure what I'm going to do but I have an appointment with the seamstress on Saturday. We'll see what we can do! :-)
  • I totally had dress remorse! Too much watching TLC wedding  shows and loving all the dresses. I actually did purchase another gown that is the perfect fit for me.
  • @nbeltra how did your appointment go??
  • I felt the same as afowler08.  I had to stop watching wedding shows for a bit because I kept comparing my dress to their dresses.  I tried on a few dresses of every style.  I only went to two stores. I found one dress I LOVED that was all bedazzled/tulle at the first store.  I thought that was what I wanted.  I went to the second store where they pull dresses for you like on say yes to the dress.  She put me in something completely different than I had picked at the first store.   I said yes because I felt bridal and sexy. When the dress came in I was so nervous I would hate it.  I went and tried it on and did all m accessories.  I am in love with it again!  I can't wait for my first fitting next week.

  • I am in the same EXACT boat. I am going to the seamstress soon to hopefully get everything situated. I look at pictures from when i said yes to the dress and I love it so i'm hoping alterations can get it looking that way! Who knew losing weight would cause such a problem! Hope everything works out :)
