Etsy Wedding Dresses

I am considering buying my wedding dress from Etsy. Has anyone purchased their wedding dress from these vendors?

Or would you suggest other vendors? I am looking for a lace dress, slightly vintage style.

Re: Etsy Wedding Dresses

  • I didnt get my dress from any of my vendors but I bought my dress from etsy for cheap from China and I had it altered to the way I wanted it exactly and love it!
  • Please do not buy your dress from a knockoff site. There have been horror stories of brides who do that. Etsy is fine, but be very careful if prices are too good to be true. I suggest trying on styles to see which you like best before having a custom dress made. I went a completely different direction with the dress I chose, but only after trying on other styles and realizing the one I wanted didn't look good on.

  • you can find your dream lace dress localy if you do some research.. get on google and type in bridal consigment shops with your state listed. you would be suprised what is out there... we have a bridal consigment in my state a few of them the one i went to ( did not get my dress there)  30% of her stock is consigned gowns and the rest of it is designer samples discontiued that they get from all over the place. you may find your dream dress there.

another option is to call bridal salons within a 30 minute drive from where you are and ask them do you have any lacy vintage inspired gowns this is my price point can you work with me.

right now you may like the lacy vintage look but when you try the gown on it may not be what you expected..

i wanted an all lace gown then i wanted a gown with like feathers i tired on both a feathered gown and a lace gown and i was so disapointed i went with a 2 strap high backed corsett gown taffita with pick ups,,

go bridal try ons a good salon will not presure you to find a dress apointments usualy last an hour and i was able to try on many dresses
  • Just have to say, I got a custom wedding dress of etsy.

My designer was Ting Bridal.  She is based in DC, but she DOES get her fabric from China because her family lives there.  She has a brick and mortar shop and everything here in the US though.  Her work is completely legit, and a friend referred her.  I was NOT disappointed in the least.  My dress turned out perfectly, custom made to my measurements and exactly the kind of dress I wanted.  I only needed a minor alteration, which is pretty normal for ordering offline.

I completely second the caution about etsy dresses.  You really do have to be careful, and some of them are foreign shops.  You also really need to know what looks good on you, and what you want.  I only ordered off etsy after I'd tried on a million dresses and couldn't find one I really liked.

And be leery of price.  A "hand-beaded" lace gown for $200?  Yeah right.  Etsy can be cheaper, but any really elaborate dress should still cost you a decent amount of money.

  • Thanks, everyone! I have tried on quite a few dresses, and I know I really do want to go with a lace one... the ones I like just tend to be too expensive so I am trying to find a better option.
  • Honestly, good quality custom gowns are likely to be more expensive, not less. Check out second hand wedding gown sites and consignment stores.
