Groomsman

My FI wants to choose his very good childhood friend to be in the WP, but his friend is currently deployed. He had brought it up to his friend (very briefly) basically just wondering if he would be deployed or home at the time of our wedding. His friend has no idea, which is completely understandable. However, FI says he wants to wait to ask him to be in the WP until the friend knows if he will be home. I think it's silly and FI should just ask him. I mean, it's not as if FI won't want him in the wedding if he is deployed, it's just that he couldn't be. The worst that can happen is he finds out he can no longer make it. I just don't want the friend to feel like an afterthought if FI waits too long to ask him, to which FI says "guys won't think that way." What do you ladies think?

  • Ask.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Thanks. I have been telling him to ask since he asked the rest of his groomsmen, and he is always interested in the posts on here, so I figured if you all agreed with me he might finally see I have a point!

  • My fiances best friend joined the navy and doesn't know 100% if he will be home for our wedding, but we still asked him to be a groomsman.  If he makes it, we will be thrilled, if not.. well at least we will still feel like he is a part of the wedding and honored that he still said yes!
