Do I have to invite my coworkers to my wedding?

Since I finally have some downtime over the next couple of days, my fiance and I have been working on finalizing the guest list.  He is a police officer and inviting a bunch of his coworkers (who are also friends of ours), but I am hesitant to add my coworkers to the list.  I work on a relatively small team - 7 people (not including me) and all have significant others.  Because we are so small and work so closely together, and because the wedding isn't too far away from where the office is located, do I have to invite everyone?  I am closer to some than I am to others, so it would be awkward if I invited them and not the people I am close with.  Help - I don't know what to do!!

Re: Do I have to invite my coworkers to my wedding?

  • You do not have to invite anyone from your office. If you want to invite some of your coworkers, I would suggest inviting all 7 people and their SOs in order to prevent people from feeling left out.
  • This was the hardest part of making my guest list- figuring out who to invite from work.  I ended up not inviting a lot of people, in order to avoid hurt feelings.  Of course you don't have to invite anyone, but I definitely agree with the comments above- you probably want to do all or nothing for a group of 7.  Invite 4, and the other 3 will doubtlessly feel hurt.
  • In such a small office, I would go with all or none.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • All or none. You really don't want drama at work between those included and those excluded.
  • Invite all of them or none at all. And if you chose to invite none, don't feel bad about it. "We can't invite everyone we would have liked to."
  • Great, thank you all!  I agree with you that it is either all or none...I don't think there is any other way!  I cannot wait to be done with this part of the planning process.
