Shower & wedding gift thank you?

Yesterday we received a package from Bed, Bath & Beyond and my stepdad's cousin purchased two items for us (our first gift, eeek!)  When she RSVP'd for my shower later this month she told my mom "I already bought Megan her shower and wedding gift!"...so I'm assuming the silverware is the wedding and the double boiler pot is the shower gift...how do I word this thank you?  Do I sign it from both of us?  Or do I generically say, "thank you so much for the place setting and double boiler pot for our upcoming wedding" so it kind of covers both the shower and wedding?  I don't want to mention just the shower because then I look like I'm assuming I'll additionally get a wedding gift, I think.  Thanks!

And would I address it to her or her and her husband as well since it's also a wedding gift? So confusing...
  • Same thing happened to me recently. Two boxes arrived (from different stores). One apparently a shower gift (she told my sister it was coming, and arrived at my sister's house). One arrived at my house and was signed from the two of them (not just the woman.)

I ended up writing a thank you for the "shower" gift (but didn't call it a shower gift) to the woman - and will send it after very soon shower (and my sister wrote to let her know it has already arrived.) Then, wrote a 2nd thank you for the "wedding" gift (and again, didn't mention the occasion) and put it in the mailbox the other day for our upcoming October wedding.

If they had both arrived to the same address at the same time, I would have addressed it to both of them and mentioned both gifts, but not as "wedding" or "shower" gifts.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
