Getting in Shape

Need some motivation

Hi all:

Not sure what's going on with me but since I got engaged I have zero motivation for getting in shape.  Over the last few years I've gone from a 22-24 down to a 14-16, starting the journey before my fiance and I were even dating.  But now, I'm all "blah."  I have no self control at work, which I normally would have walked away with no problems.  Then weekends -- forget about it. I've used MyFitnessPal for over a year now but some days I log in, some days I don't.  I know what I need to do but why aren't I doing it?!

Someone kick me in the butt please!  :)

Re: Need some motivation

  • Getting married March 30th of next year, I'd be happy at around a size 10 but don't want to stop, really.  I am short and my weight is all in my belly.  I think I just needed to post this, put it in writing, to motivate myself.  I have great legs though!  LOL I can't wear skinny jeans because the belly doesn't match the legs.
  • Thank you!  Just sent a request on MFP.  :)
  • Hey, welcome to the board!

You've already taken the first step in admitting you need to do something...now it's just a matter of sticking to that and getting going. It's always hard to get started, but you will find once you develop a healthy routine it's pretty easy to stick to it. I've successfully logged in to myfitnesspal for over 530 days in a row...it's all about finding & forming that habit that works for you and helps you.

I highly recommend participating in our daily accountability threads - you see just how human everyone is and that it's OK to have an off day, but how important it is to get right back to it. I think we're a wonderful support network :)

  • I third the suggestion of the accountability threads and just getting into the habit. It took me a while to really get in the swing of working out at 6am, but now if I skip a morning workout I feel sluggish and off all day.

This is a great group to be apart of. Just stick around and dig deep. You can only help yourself. Me personally, I sign up for races so I have no excuse not to workout. I try to always be registered for at least one race at any given time. But that's my motivation. My wedding was not motivation for me because I know I like feeling healthy and wanted more than just to look good on my wedding day. Find the motivating factor that works for you and use it to your advantage.

  • Thank you all for the invite to your group.  I will be held accountable!
  • I know how it feels to lose motivation with regards to working out; with my busy schedule, it sometimes gets hard to squeeze time in to work out (and get my bikini body ready for my best friend's wedding - I am the maid of honor and the wedding is in Miami Beach in about one month!). What helps to motivate me is to get organized and set up a weekly routine where I get in a few 30 minute workouts per week (about 3 or so). One of my friends (who is from Miami) actually sent me this good article for quick workouts that I can do at home; i love these because they fit into my "30 minutes or less" workouts and I can do them at home without having to drive all the way to the gym! Below is the link :)

  • Hi Nrorchbou2013, the link takes me to a Honeymoon thread I started.  Can you resend it please?

    Thank you!
