Florist recommendations

Hey guys
I'm honestly not sure what is an "average" floral cost for 7 bridesmaids and a bridal bouquet+12 center pieces but I got a quote from flowerman and it was a little higher than I anticipated for the DIY option. Do you know of any $$ saving flower options? Or any reasonably priced florist recommendations? Thanks in advance ladies!

Re: Florist recommendations

  • I threw my hands in the air when I was quoted $60-$70 each for 7 bridesmaids bouquets. It just seemed like a place where I could put the $ towards something else. I stepped back and decided I was going to make my own (thought was paper flowers out of old books). With less than a month to go and the bouquets not done (I don't exactly have a DIY gene- so bad call on my part), I started to worry. My Maid of Honor actually advised me to go to a local grocery store florist for a $ saving option. I took her advice and went to the Kroger Marketplace at Graceland. The ladies there were really helpful and are going to make all 7 bouquets (coordinating ribbon and all) for ~$120.00. We're keeping it simple with just white roses and greenery, but for the price and unloading a little stress, I jumped on it. In short, check with a grocery store florist (I'd go to a larger one like a Kroger/Giant Eagle marketplace). They might be able to help you out a little!
  • When I was quoted $150 to $250 for a bridal bouquet I also went to Krogers and got 2 bridal bouquets (one for outdoor photos in the July heat and to later use as the toss and one for the ceremony and too keep) two boutonnieres and enough baby's breath for 25 centerpieces for under $140.

Flowers on Orchard Lane is routinely noted as the best prices in town, but they are still expensive.

  • Do you have pictures you can post of your flowers? I'm thinking about doing something similar.

  • RCantrell123? I have red and white roses with blue thistle looking things. It was a ten inch bouquet.

  • I think Costco has a bridal bouquet package too.
I got a quote from the Flowerman and was floored at their prices. $1.75 per stem of baby's breathe - no thank you! And that was for me to do it all by myself, not even the half DIY option.

  • Sorry I should have specified, RCantrell123, can you post pictures of your Kroger flowers? I was thinking of doing a white/green theme too.

picturesquex  - I second photokitty, I've read several reviews that Costco has quality flowers at good prices.

I've got an appointment set up with Bloomtastic in Columbus. They offer a DYI option. I haven't shopped around much, but they seem reasonable. My best friend used Bloomtastic (not the DYI option) & her flowers were awesome, so I think they have quality flowers.

  • @ Lemmons. Sorry. I don't have pictures of them...yet. :) My wedding is August 3rd and I'm going in on Saturday to finalize the order. I'd be happy to post a picture post wedding- might not be until mid August after we return from our honeymoon though. Our colors are grey and green, but when it comes to flowers I just kept it simple with white roses and green hydrangeas. If you're thinking of using green as one of your colors- I'd be happy to send pics of our centerpieces, the green shoes my girls will be rocking (on clearance for $29.99 at DSW right now-lol), etc. Perhaps email would be best if you'd like to share. Happy to answer any green related questions. :)
  • I just found Ecoflora, they do all local flowers which may save some $$!
  • Thanks Ladies! You all are awesome. I appreciate all the suggestions and will look into each of these options.
