non-GIS. Parent gifts?

Does anyone have any input for different/original parent gifts besides the usual framed picture or photo album?  Fi has been absolutely no help for ideas for his parents, and I'm sure my parents would appreciate and love a frame, but I was just looking around for some different ideas.

Thanks!

Re: non-GIS. Parent gifts?

  • We did do the album, but I also spent a day before the wedding festivities alone with my mom, as a family/girls day (my dad is not in the picture.)  We did nails and went to lunch and did similar things that she used to take me to do when I was little. I think that time together meant so much to her.  Could be fun for FI to go spend a day with his parents and you with yours, to give them probably some of the last quality 'day with just my child' time, and take them to lunch or whatever activities you like to do together - if your families are into that sentimental stuff.

I like xcaly's idea to buy them something like it's a holiday, though, too.  Makes sense and would probably be more appreciated than something wedding-y.

  • Thanks ladies, those all sound like better ideas.  I think I was trying to think too wedding-y about it :)

  • We bought our moms a piece of jewelry in our birthstones (my mom, a necklace with H's birthstone. H's mom, earrings with my birthstone). They LOOOOVED the gesture since, when you're kids, moms always get birthstone stuff.. and now they have a new child to add in :o

H's dad, we got Star Trek cufflinks. They were bad-A and he loved them.

    All was purchased on Etsy.
