Can I get Band and DJ?

I am planning on booking a band that plays strictly Big Band/Stadards type of music. I am worried about a reception that has no variety to get people on the dance floor. I was contemplating having the band play for the first 1.5 hrs then have a DJ come in to play later to get the party started. Has anyone done this? Do you think it is possible? Would love some opinions!

Anything is possible, as long as your budget allows it, I say go for it! The one thing I do suggest is having the dj already setup, because you don't want a dj setting up in the middle of your reception. Our dj needs an hour to setup so as long as you have them setup when everyone else sets up I think it's fine!
