Haven't had my wedding yet, but I DEFINITELY intend to have flowers in my hair! I'm planning to have plumerias or cattleya orchids and my hair will be down. Kinda like in my avatar but curled instead of wavy :) (this pic was taken at one of my dance performances)

Meeting with the florist next month to figure it out. I want a half up do with flowers around where my veil is. Wedding will have peonies, ranunculus, roses, poppies, etc. That's what I hope to have in my hair. One of my bridesmaids is also super excited to have flowers in her hair too.

  • My florist said it would be much easier to use silk flowers on clips instead of real flowers, so that's what I'm doing. It was cheaper too, because I made them myself using an online tutorial.
  • If you're having a summer wedding where you'll be outside for even just pictures, I agree with the silk flowers recommendations. I was a BM where we had roses in our hair in June - 30 minutes in, the petals started to brown. You can find the real touch silk flowers that look and feel very real.

And peonies wilt even just in bouquets, so ditto Harry on that point.

  • What do you think about flowers with a veil (fingertip length)?   I love the look of both but don't know if they would work together.
  • At my "practice wedding," I had one white rose.  My hair was all up in a chignon.  It is very dark so the rose kind of "broke things up"...my hair guy actually called my florist while doing my hair to have her bring an extra bloom.

I am looking at a simple fake flower clip for my "forever wedding" in April...I stress too much and it is a simpler plan

I just wore an ivory, silk flower with pearl, bling and feather accents.  I probably wouldn't wear real flowers in my hair for the wedding.  I would be concerned I'd have a wilted mess by the end of the night.
  • My cousin did and it was a big white flower and I can't remember what it was called but it was pretty. If you are looking for ideas, I would suggest pinterest.
  • flowers in the hair is so elegant. this one is my favorite: http://weddinspire.com/wishes/12781

Wait... you can have a practice wedding? What goes into a practice wedding? What's a "forever wedding"? I'm planning on having a wedding rehearsal the day before our wedding, not months.

I'm doing a fake flower on a comb - it also has some pearl and crystal elements to it, which tie into my dress quite nicely (although I bought them separately).
  • I wore my hair in a curly side pony tail, I had a small succulent, a green button mum, and a few hypericum berries tucked right above the pony tail holder. My florist provided a few small samples to choose from that matched my bouquet.

  • Sorry all!  I was using the "practice wedding: as a euphemism for my prior marriage to another guy that ended in divorce...the wedding kicked-a$$ (not sure on the rules there), the marriage not so much.  I refer to it a lot in planning since it is pretty relevant industry knowledge and on the board bc it can explain things (i.e my vetoing a venue that looked too much like the one used for my first...it will be my FI's first marriage.

So it isn't some form of a PPD.  though I wonder if anyone WOULD call it such given the I did already do the dress/aisle/rings/thing.  I hope not...

  • Not from my wedding (hasn't happened yet ; ) but I did for my senior prom some year's back.  Baby rose buds...really loved it!

  • I had a silk flower on a comb made from a shop on etsy. It's beautiful! It has a little bit of bling. I can't decide if I am going to wear it for wedding and reception or just the reception. I have a chapel length veil so I might swap them out.
