STD magnets

Don't worry, I'm not sending out my STDs any time soon. I'm just thinking.

I love the idea of STD magnets, but I know that a lot of people have stainless steel refrigerators now, which are non-magnetic. I know that there are other magnetic surfaces that people could use, but the refrigerator is generally the main one, right?

Does this matter? Would you just use them and let people decide where or if to stick them to something? Or would you go with paper STDs?

I don't like magnetic save the dates as I feel they're too small.

A postcard or other card works better for me.

It really doesn't matter though...get what you like.

  • I wouldn't let that be the determiner of whether or not to do them.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • The sides of most stainless steel fridges are magnetic.

  • We got magnets that look like they came from a photobooth. (Wedding Diva, I *think.*) They are two inches by six inches, so they are a bit bigger. Everyone seemed to really like them. (So did we.)

No one made any mention to us about the fridge being an issue, but I'm sure not everyone used them either.
  • This is what we will do. I think it is a great idea and you should not worry wether they really put it on the fridge or elsewhere. The important thing is that they have the information, some will gladly keep it and use it, others will simply put a note on their agenda. Same if you sent paper STD.

About the size, it also depends what you write on them. On mine it will be written bigger : Both our first name, then right uder : the date. Then in little : Save the date. That's all ! So it's not a problem I think, we will send the magnets with a personnalized letter, and a link to our blog (so people can follow what happens over the Internet, until they receive the official invites).
  • My friend did STD magnets for her Mexico wedding and they were adorable! A picture of her and her groom and the necessary info. They were not small at all. Very cute. Go for it!

My FI and I didn't do any STD so we could save money, and we are really happy with that. Great option. =)
  • I've designed our STD magnets with "(names) are getting married on (date)", artfully arranged in cool fonts.  I've always loved the magnet idea for these, because when i receive an invite for anything I always put it on the fridge.  And what's better than a magnet?

  • Am I the only one here who totally thought the OP was going to talk about someone who she thought was a “magnet” for sexually transmitted diseases??

Perhaps...most people here do understand that there are two meanings for "STD."
  • If you want to get magnets, I say go for it!  If they're really well done, they can be awesome!

Also, we have a stainless steel fridge, and magnets work on the whole thing.  :)

  • We didn't want to do super small magnets either. We got ours through Vistaprint
    and they were 5.47" x 4.21"

Here is what they looked like. We loved them and got so many compliments!
