NER - somebody slap me (I'm a bridezilla?)

I just had what I think was my first bridezilla moment. I needed navy blue ribbon for a DIY project (wedding is on Saturday). I called around to all the Michaels stores and only one store 45 minutes away said they had it. I drove out and they handed me baby blue ribbon. No. I drove out here for the navy ribbon that none of your other stores had and you told me you had it..... They figured out who put it on hold and it was the store manager. Can someone please explain to me how the manager of an arts and crafts store doesn't know what Navy is??

Am I a bridezilla?

  • I'd be pissed too. "Navy" and "baby" sound pretty similar, though... but yeah, I'd be pissed for driving all that way.
  • I would be pissed about this, too.
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!
  • "Not Etiquette Related" although I guess it kind of is because I rudely told the clerk to tell her manager to figure out what navy is and huffed off...

  • Yeah I'd be pissed too.
  • If you need lots of it, try to go to a fabric store. I got meters and meters of navy and pink ribbon - all co-ordinating and in different widths - at my local Fabricland. There must be an equivalent where you live!
  • It sounds like that store manager needs to be slapped, not you!  That's just infuriating...

  • I would be pissed. And I was when I had a similar situation - The store near us only had one photo frame (for our table numbers), but the store 40 minutes away had 16, and would put 8 on hold for us. Get there and they had put the wrong frame on hold AND claimed that they didn't have any of the ones we wanted. After I got stroppy and insisted someone from that department help us look anyway we found them in about 2 minutes. I was livid, especially since all the messing around and waiting meant we had to drive home in peak hour traffic, so the drive back took well over an hour.

  • Reminds me of how I called David's Bridal to see if my dyed shoes were ready.  The woman I talked to asked me what color the shoes were supposed to be dyed.  I answered, "pink".  She said, "yes, your shoes are ready to be picked up!"

Great!  I drive over there 30 minutes later, and the woman there says she has no idea who I talked to, and my shoes hadn't been dyed yet.  What.  The.  F....

  • I had something similar happen for a non-wedding and it still pissed me off, so it's not a bridezilla thing.  It's a "don't waste my time" thing.

On the flip side, my first job was retail and I had someone yell at me because they drove 2 hours to get to our store for something in particular, and I asked them "who did you talk to that said we have it so I can get them and find out if they were holding it for you somewhere"....yeah, they didn't call.  They drove two hours to our store without even checking to see if we had it first.
