Phipps New Catering Policy

My fiance and I are getting married and having our reception at Phipps this Semptember.  They recently changed their catering policy and now require you to use their own company, Phipps Catering.  I was disappointed that we no longer have a choice to use Rania's or big burrito, but I'm hoping for the best.  Has anyone used Phipps Catering and can comment on the quality of the food?  Has anyone done a tasting with their company yet?  I would really appreciate any feedback!

    Hi,
MY DAUGHTER IS GETTING MARRIED IN THE FALL OF 2012, AND WE WERE LOOKING INTO PHIPPS FOR THE WEDDING VENUE.  APPROXIMATELY 150 GUESTS.  COULD YOU GIVE ME A ROUGH ESTIMATE OF THE COST OF A WEDDING THERE?  THANK YOU SO MUCH.
  • hi we're getting married at phipps in 2014, can anyone that used Phipps catering let me know how was their food? We REALLY want to know how good is their catering compared to Big Burrito Group because Big is just purely awesome! But it's really expensive to use them!
  • Hi All,

My fiance and I are having our reception at Phipps (outdoor garden space, under the tents) on August 24, 2013.  Although we haven't solidified our catering yet (I'll come back and drop another comment after we do so in the next 2 weeks), I can tell you about the pricing.  Phipps requires you to use both their in-house catering and their in-house bar services.  There are 3 or so options for catering (which includes cocktail hour passed hors devours, salad course, entree and cake [from prantl's or bethel bakery - your choice]).  The options range from $90 per person to $120 (i think), we are choosing the $90 pp option - choice of 2 entrees, sides, etc.   Then the bar is separate - you have a choice of cash bar; beer and wine bar; or open bar.  We chose open bar, for which there is 2 "levels" - Premium and Top Shelf.  We chose premium since the "top shelf" weren't very different.  The open bar rate has an initial rate of $11 per person (i believe) for the first hour, then a charge per person for each hour after that.  All said and done, I believe it comes out to abut $27 pp for our 5 hour event (includes cocktail hour from 6-7 and reception from 7-11)

@Alexandra2012 - we are expecting approx 125 - 150 guests, for your daughter I would inquire into the outdoor garden space, because i believe the indoor space at Phipps would be too small for a party of that size.
  • I contacted Phipps twice about my wedding for pricing.  They've never replied back to me or returned my phone calls.

  • Alexandra2012- Our wedding is at phipps and actually the same day as ANP112586, but we are in the include space. Pricing comments are all the same. But i wanted to add the with the indoor space, the price includes linens, votive candles, and use of the chivari chairs. We invited 175, and Phipps had no problem with that headcount for the indoor space, we have 130 yes, so its going to be perfect. You get the tropical forest, there special events hall, bridal room, and a beautiful patio with waterfall in the back that you can also have your ceremony on.

    good luck!
