Invite/Website Wording Help

Hi Everyone!

I was hoping somebody could help me out with the wording on our invitations and website regarding the wedding ceremony/reception.

My partner and I are having a fairly casual event in a local neighborhood restaurant with about 100 people.
We're not having formal ceremony. Instead, we're essentially hosting a 3 hour open bar with hors d'oeuvres. At some point within the first hour, we'll pause everything and stand with our officiant as he says a few words, we exchange vows/rings and the few other minor things we're still planning. This part shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes. We're trying to keep things short and casual so that we're not being kicked out at the end of the 3 hours (we're reserving the restaurant before normal dinner hours).

How do I explain this so that our guests know what to expect?
Any and all ideas are welcomed and appreciated :-)

Thanks!

Why do you have to stop in the middle? Why can't you exchange vows before the eating and drinking begins?

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Sounds like an official/formal ceremony to me!

Word it like any other wedding invitation.

  • Yeah, I agree with Addie. I'd just have the ceremony right in the beginning if I were you. Once people eat and drink, they generally want to keep eating and drinking.

  • Your plan is awkward. Get married, then eat.

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

  • This isn't a surprise wedding, is it? I can't tell from your post.
  • Why would you stop mid eat? That's a little weird. Like ok am I supposed to awkwardly chew my plate of food during your ceremony?

I think a standard invitation is fine, I mean you can always tell people what the actual plan is.
