Honeymoon Help!

Hello Ladies, I am getting married October 2014 and was working on some honeymoon plans. I just don't know where to start. I don't have a budget set, I just don't want to spend a fortune. What are some good honeymoon ideas for cheap. I live in the eastern KY area. Thanks in advance for all the help!

Re: Honeymoon Help!

  • That is a very broad question and "cheap" means different things to different people. What are you looking to do while on your HM? Any places you know you don't want to visit? How far are you willing to fly? Also, just so you are aware, you won't be able to book anything with air until the November 2013 timeframe. Air is not released until 330 days prior to the flight date. Once you give a little more info, I know everyone on here will be happy to help!

  • @Jells2dot0: Thank you for your reply. I am hoping not to fly for the honeymoon! I am hoping something that is no more than at least a 12 hour drive. I just want time to myself and my new husband. I would however like to do some "touristy" things. I like to do museums and some history. I would like a water front, but not have to spend all the time there, because soon to be hubby is not a big fan of water. "Cheap" I mean as in I don't want to spend like $3,000.00 on it. My wedding is already costing quite a bit and I want to have a nice honeymoon for less! Hope this helps you all so you can help me!! Thanks again!
  • Maybe The Smokey's; Atlanta,GA; Memphis, TN; Nashville, TN ; Chattanooga, TN ; Knoxville. Hope theses help.

Savannah, GA I think would be within driving.

Otherwise Liz had some great suggestions too. Or you may be able to make it to the East coast too. Or if you can drive down to Mobile and take a cruise. Lots that leave out of that area.

    Good luck!

    Edit:
I just checked and all of those places are under 12 hours. Most are between 8-10. Also Virginia Beach is about 9 too. So that would be pretty awesome. I still kind of vote for a cruise though. With that budget you could have an awesome honeymoon on a cruise ship and visit many different places and see tons of things. If Mobile doesn't work you can try New Orleans too!

If you are looking for a honeymoon destination on a budget, I would definitely look into Florida resorts! The airfare from Kentucky to Florida should not be too expensive, or you could look into driving there. Many of them are very luxurious and reasonably priced; best yet Florida has some of the top beaches in the nation; I love Brazilian bikinis, so when I made my honeymoon plans with my husband, we just had to travel to a romantic getaway in the tropics! We ended up in Miami Beach and had the best time! As a reference, I am providing a link with with a nice article about Florida's top ten beaches. If you like any of these, I would recommend searching for resorts in these areas.

  • @lizandmark2014: Thank you for your suggestions. We have considered TN, but not quite sure if that is the surroundings we want. We do however, like the fact that there is a lot of privacy when it comes to the cabins you can stay in! Thanks again!

@dazyabbey: Thank you for pointing out that there are a variety of places within a 12 hour driving distance. Some of them I haven't even thought about! I never thought about a cruise with the departure port being Mobile AL or New Orleans. Thanks again!

@nrorchbou2013: Thank you for giving me a site to refer to. We have thought a great deal about FL, it has the beaches and other things that we could do. Will definitely be checking out the site! Thank you again!
  • Thanks for the info on when airfare is posted -- helpful to know when rates are posted! I want to plan every detail now :)
